Repost from the Revelers:

If you are at Southern:

All Faire people please REPOST
As you may have heard Marcus Ossowski and Teresa Veneroso are doing a project at Faire this year. We plan to recreate all 78 images of the Tarot having you, our dear friends at the Renaissance Faire, playing out your interpretations of the various cards. We want to get as many people involved in this project as possible. If you are interested in being in a picture or have an idea for a picture please e-mail us at passivefreedom@gmail.com

very sad.

Last night on our way home, we were driving up Newport Blvd. Chit-chating and tapping my feet to the beat. It's full dark and the bright headlights are all we see in the oncoming traffic. A very normal drive home through suburbian terrain, just passing the newly sold mannasero strawberry field that is going to be a new nursing home. Right now it's an empty field of dirt and leftover cornstalks.

Suddenly, my lizard brain said look left. I did. I usually do what that part of my brain tells me to do when it senses danger. Unfortunately, the danger didn't apply to me, Mr. Man who was driving, or anyone else in a car.

I watched the little streak of gray fur shooting across the street angling towards us. Then I saw it tumble. Then it disappeared.

A little scream and my hands shot to my face to cover, both to hide and to keep from throwing up.

It happened so fast, even Mr. Man didn't see it.

Then the tears. Then the angry. Somewhere along the chain, someone failed. Whether it was an unaltered house cat, a feral that hasn't been TNR'd in the area, or someone just left the door open.... this cat is now dead.

Please Please spread the word that on a busy suburban street is no place for an "outdoor" cat. Keep them inside, spayed or neutered to keep them from roaming, and make sure that their id's and tags are current.

This could have been prevented.

but this is more important

This was originally written for dog owners, but most of it applies to all pets. It was adapted from various versions available online.

The Ten Commandments of Pet Ownership

When you adopt me my life is likely to last 15 to 20 years. Please don't forsake me, any separation from you will be very painful.

Please give me time to understand what it is you want from me. Change can be more difficult for me than for you.

Please trust me and help me to trust you... it is crucial for my well being as well as yours.

Don't be angry with me for too long, and don't lock me up as punishment. You have your work, your friends, your entertainment. I have only YOU.

Talk to me. Even if I don't understand your words, I understand your voice when you're speaking to me.

Be aware that however you treat me, I'll never forget it.

Before you hit me, remember that I have teeth that could easily crush the bones in your hand, but I choose not to hurt you.

Before you scold me for being lazy or uncooperative, ask yourself if something might be bothering me. Is there another reason for my behavior? Perhaps I'm not getting the right food, or I've been out in the sun too long, and my heart may be getting old and weak. Try to understand what it is like to be me.

Please take care of me when I get old. Don't abandon me, for you, too, will grow old.

Go with me on difficult journeys. Never say, "I can't bear to watch it", or, "Let it happen in my absence." I need you with me even at the end of my journey. Please always do what is best for me even if it is unbearable for you to do so - because I love you and trust that you will.

x-post dog rescue

2 beautiful labs that need a home in the next two weeks~!
x-posted from my FB:

Hi everybody! (Hi Dr. Nick)

An update on our current situation! So some of you knew, and some of you didn't, that Mr. Man and I were sort of looking for a dog. Well, that didn't work out (Maggie didn't like Fern and wasn't going to put up with another girl dog).

So here we are with a little bit of extra room, and the call came in for a foster situation. Amy brought a big beautiful boy with a leg/hip issue to the front yard and we gave him bath and evaluated him.
He's quite a big boy and miss priss decided she will tolerate him.

Mr. Man and I took him to the vet and got xrays done and lab work. Unfortunately, Mister William is heartworm positive and requires very expensive medicine to defeat them.

So here is what I am hoping to do. If you live within 25 miles of me (city of Orange) and you are letting your city waste management take your recyclable cans/plastic bottles/glass, I would love to come pick them up from you to turn in to cash for his medication. I will provide bags and can pick them up at your convenience.

If you would like to donate a buck or two instead :

(Please remember if donating, any amount, paypal extracts the fee from the donation amount. Thank you!)

somewhat updatiness...

I know, I know, I never write, I never call....

things are stressful, but manageable. I have had several stress related migraines since my HS reunion.

The reunion was more fun than it had any right to be, and I am glad I went. Life goes on.

The fence is done, not without any stress. The neighbor hates it and he was such an ass about two previous fences that I just don't give a shit. It's pretty, it's vinyl and will never have to be repainted. Oh, and when the big shaker comes, my fence will just have to be put back together. I won't have to rebuild the whole thing. Ha. So there. Oh and let me pimp them because I am trying to work out a deal with them...

The Vinyl Fence Co. rocked my socks. From their salesman, Omar, to their installers Angel and Victor. The owners stopped by to see how the job was going and if I was happy! How cool is that?

Blizzcon was very much fun, got to walk around with the cool kids both days and see Ozzy play live! Cross your fingers, Mr. Man got a contact in the company....hopefully gainful employment will follow. There will be any sort of food bribery need fulfilled.....I'm just sayin'.

Miss Maggie is surviving her surgery even better than the vet could hope for. She's about a week ahead of their recovery schedule and has her full release appt. at the end of this month.

Mr. Man are attempting to eat more at home and walk every day. With the weather ramping up in heat making it a bit more challenging, we have to wait until it cools off.

I am seeing my horse more and more since the debacle of my root canals and my cat is still peeing not in the box. I have however found a miracle product called Mirazyme . Invented for stinky scuba gear, it has eliminated the smell even in the padding. That doesn't mean I am not saving up money to replace the carpeting with sealed wood flooring.

I love and miss you all! I have been reading everyone, don't worry. Just a-lurking here and there!

Happiest of Birfdays to you-

daydreambeleevr my fellow Leo! Let's rule the world!
